What is CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards?

CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards is a programme available to CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank Visa Cash Back, Visa Gold, and Visa bizline™ credit cardholders, in participating countries. The programme allows CIBC FirstCaribbean credit cardholders to earn points for making purchases at participating retailers with their credit cards.

What are the differences among the CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards programmes?

CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards cardholders can redeem their points in different ways depending on what card type is registered with the programme. CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards Visa Classic cardholders' points will be automatically converted to cash back on a quarterly basis. CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards Visa Gold cardholders and CIBC FirstCaribbean bizline™ cardholders can redeem their points for cash back, travel, gift cards, or a charitable donation. Each programme is designed to suit their members' needs, and make redeeming their points as enjoyable as possible.

Who is eligible to become a member of CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards?

CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards is only available to CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank Visa Cash Back, Visa Gold, and bizline™ credit cardholders in participating countries.

In Curaçao and Trinidad & Tobago, only bizline™ Credit Cards are eligible to participate in CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards at this time.

I am already a customer of CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank. How do I join CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards?

Visa Cash Back and Visa Gold Credit Card cardholders of CIBC FirstCaribbean are automatically enrolled in CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards. Simply register on the program website and take advantage of all that CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards has to offer and see new offers to help you earn more.

How long does it take after I make a purchase to see my Points on the website?

Points can take up to 30 business days to be credited to your account.

How many points do I need to Redeem Points for Cash Back?

Visa Gold and bizline™ cardholders can convert their points to cash back after earning a minimum of 1,000 points (equivalent to US$10).

For Visa Classic cardholders, points will automatically be converted to cash back four times per year regardless of the number of points earned.

How long does it take to receive cash back in my Credit Card account for “Redeem Points for Cash” transactions?

For Visa Gold and bizline™ cardholders, points can be redeemed at any time; however, cash back will only be disbursed into the account you select and log into four times per year:

  • December: for points deposited in your account September 1 through November 30
  • March: for points deposited in your account December 1 through February 28
  • June: for points deposited in your account March 1 to May 31
  • September: for points deposited in your account June 1 through August 31

For Visa Classic cardholders, cash back redemptions occur automatically according to the same disbursement schedule.

What if I shopped using my CIBC FirstCaribbean Credit Card, but didn't receive my points?

Do my points ever expire?

The points you accrue will expire after 60 months, as long as you maintain your active CIBC FirstCaribbean Credit Card account. Points will expire sooner if you are no longer a CIBC FirstCaribbean Visa Cash Back, Visa Gold or bizline™ Credit Card customer.

I'm not a customer of CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank. How do I join CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards?

You must first have a Visa Cash Back, Visa Gold, or bizline™ Credit Card account with CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank. To apply for a card, click here. Once you do so, you will automatically be enrolled in CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards, enabling you to earn points when you make purchases using your CIBC FirstCaribbean Credit Card. Be sure to register on the program website to get the most out of your points.

Where can I shop to earn Rewards?

Use your CIBC FirstCaribbean Visa Cash Back, Visa Gold, or bizline™ Credit Card to make purchases and you'll earn 1 point for every US$1 (or local equivalent) that you charge to the card. You can use your card in stores and at points of sale, while travelling overseas and when shopping online—wherever Visa is accepted.

What is the cost to participate?

Participating in the CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards program is free.

Can I cancel my membership at any time?

Yes. All unredeemed points are forfeited once the account is closed.

What if I redeem my points for a gift card, and that company goes out of business?

CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards only offers gift cards from international, brand-name retailers. However, if a gift card is no longer usable due to a retailer going out of business, CIBC FirstCaribbean will credit the member's account with the amount of points redeemed.

Who is eligible to book through the First Caribbean travel website?

All Gold Card and bizline™ holders enrolled in the CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards program have access. Please visit www.cibcfcibrewards.com to make flight, hotel, car rental, and activity reservations.

Can I only book a ticket in my name?

No. Tickets can be booked in anyone's name.

Am I allowed to change or cancel the booking made?

No. All Travel Redemptions are non-refundable and non-transferable. We are unable to process refunds, exchanges, or cancellations.

How do I book my travel plans?

Please visit www.cibcfcibrewards.com to access the online booking tool, which will allow you to book flights, hotel, car rentals, and activities.

Can I book my package over the phone?

Unfortunately, no. Reservations can only be made through the CIBC FirstCaribbean Rewards website. Just click on "Redeem", then click on the "Travel" section, and redeem!

Are there any limitations on travel destinations?

Due to travel advisories and restrictions, some countries and airports cannot be booked through the First Caribbean Rewards website.

When booking travel reservations, these restricted destinations will not appear in your travel search results.

Are there restrictions to my airline reservations?

All airline reservations must be made with the exact name of the person traveling and match their government-issued I.D., which will be required at time of check in. For international travel, the name on the reservation must be exactly as it appears on the traveler's passport.

Where can I book car rentals?

The First Caribbean Rewards website can be used to book car rentals in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Other car rental destinations will not appear in your travel search results.

What happens if I do not show up for my hotel or car rental reservation?

Failure to show for your reservation will result in automatic cancellation of your reservation. No money or points will be refunded.

Will my online reservation be secure?

Yes. All transactions are processed in a secure online environment.

Are payments processed on a secure server? How do I know?

Yes, all payments are processed through a secure server using encryption for all messages sent to our secure payment processor.
